As the head coach of the Mable Falls high school's golf team Garcia was able to lead her team to the 3rd position in the 2003 regional tournament, and then they finished as sixth place in 2006. The lady has won over 17 national medals and belongs to the Women's Texas Golf Association. After high school, Garcia attended Texas Christain University for several years and later transferred to the University of Texas. It was there that she gave her exposure to a competitive platform thereby making her talents stronger as times passed. Angela Akin Garcia, despite her happiness and satisfaction as a professional golfer, has never dreamed of going into the profession. She instead decided to pursue journalism. When she finished her degree in journalism, she was hired in Fox Sports Southwest as a journalist.
